Mood: Accomplished

Siren's surgery was a success, despite a little snafu we ran into along the way. Somehow, despite me making it abundantly clear to every medical professional I've spoken to since we booked the surgery, nobody considered that Siren has a family history of EDS and her own history of one unconscious episode four years ago. The anesthesiologist caught it and refused to clear her for general anesthesia unless a cardiologist cleared her. Thank God. I was having super bad vibes about it all week. So what does my kid do? She decides to go through with the surgery anyway, just being awake! They had to give her five injections of local anesthetic but the surgeon said he wished that his adult patients could be as well-behaved as she was. Everyone in the surgery was just totally charmed by her. I've taken care of a few people now after surgery and Siren by far has been the easiest, even though she can't bear weight on her right foot. I'm constantly just amazed that she came out of me. I don't understand what I did to get so lucky that my kid is so fucking cool.
